Toby the Doctor Dog!

Just to let y’all know that Toby, the fluffy white dog who is judge of awesomeness on my ranking scale, has just passed all the necessary assessments and is now a qualified ‘doctor dog’! It basically means that he’ll be going to hospitals and other places to bring ill patients a bit of furry happiness. Think of it like doggy community service. We’re all very proud of him! Watch this space – I’ll post up photos and let you know how he gets on soon!

Who’s ‘Toby’ in the Ranking Scale?

He’s a big fluffy 10-year-old white West Highland Terrier who lives in a big white apartment in Hong Kong. Why did I decide to use him for my ranking scale? Because Toby is an awesome dog with awesome taste, and everyone who’s met him will agree. So what better choice is there when it comes to an awesomeness indicator?

Hello.

There are loads of city and travel guides out there. I’d know – I’ve worked as a lowly intern for quite a few of them. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all fantastic and I loved writing for them, but I just feel like the time has come for me to try starting up a little something of my own. Something slightly different. More personal. In other words, I will be sharing a sunny slice of my life with you as I live it. I hope you’re excited.

So the way this website is going to work is that I will be posting short, informative and opinionated entries about things I experience in the city. No fuss, no frills. All I’m going to do is to tell you what you need to know – where I’ve been (be it restaurant, bar, theatre, or tourist attraction), what I thought about it, maybe introduce someone I met there, maybe give out some fun facts about it, and give you all the venue details so that you can visit them should you wish to do so. I’ll also put up photos because we all love photos.

As I’m currently studying at the University of Leeds, the so-called ‘northern capital of England’ will be my main city of exploration. I love travelling, however, and so I’ll be telling you about all the different cities I visit too. For these, I will compile an ‘All You Need To Know About [City Name]‘ fact sheet, before going back to the diary format. Just to let you know what you’ll have to look forward to in the near future – I’ll be going to London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, and Da Nang (Vietnam) within the next couple months, so watch this space!
